Sitting on a large lot in Rhinecliff, this c1880 jewel box with Hudson River views has been thoughtfully designed, renovated and furnished by Post Company as their first single family residence project (following their success at nearby Inness). The compound features a main house and three outbuildings, all within walking distance to the Rhinecliff train station. Post Company's philosophy for the redesign followed a rhythm of light and dark, restraint and saturation. Smaller, more intimate spaces are flooded with color and texture a red mudroom, an earthy guest room, and a shower fully built out of Calacatta Rosa marble, while more open spaces are painted in subtly shifting tones of limewash. They decided to use modeled paints to highlight the architectural planes and complement a more neutral palette across furnishings. The furniture represents a collection of contemporary works, as well as vintage sourced throughout the Hudson valley. The magic is in the details here, you'll find hardware from Waterworks, radiant heat in the mudroom and baths, fully custom millwork throughout the kitchen and storage spaces that feel cohesive with the architecture and finishes. Following a year long renovation, the home was re-built from the inside out, including new structural elements, new windows, gutters, roofs, electrical and HVAC. Post Company retained an approach of restraint and minimalism to create a home that feels cohesive, streamlined and built to the highest of standards. The furniture is available for purchase.
